Department of English Language and Literature of STBA JIA held an online public lecture on Saturday, April 17th, 2021.  More than 120 students and alumni from STBA JIA joined the lecture via zoom meeting.  The lecture titled “Tourism in Post Pandemic” was presented by Mr. Imron Hadi, S.S., M.Hum., an experienced lecturer of STBA JIA.  The lecture started with Mr. Imron mentioning the limitations of tourism during the pandemic. How the business that seriously depends on tourism are facing great difficulties during this pandemic.

Mr. Imron mentioned various methods that could be applied to maintain the tourist attractions during this challenging situation. Such as creating the sustainable tourisms and also Instagram-able spots to draw visitors’ attention. The other method is to change strategy to survive for realistic steps for tourism during the pandemic. Such as increasing the CHSE implementation (Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety, Environment Friendly). This could give assurance to the tourists that they could spend their time in their holiday destination safely.

It was also explained that the target market in the post pandemic era would be National tourists, local visitors/picnic doers, and the last is foreign/international tourist. That could be good opportunity for us to visit local tourist attraction and help the local business around.

After the session for Mr. Imron as the speaker has finished, participants of the lecture were allowed to ask questions. A participant, Ms. Dyah Sukma asked among local, modern and international tourism, which sector of tourism have the potential to recover the fastest? To which Mr. Imron answered whichever sector will able to recover, depends on the condition and the handling methods of the said tourism sector. Though the tourist management also must not sacrifice maintenances and qualities for the sake of cheap tourism. Lastly, Mr. Imron emphasized the importance of choosing tourism kinds and sector based on our needs and budget, also following the health protocol is a must for everyone’s safety.
